We Are The Community Foundation
For over 30 years we have helped donors in both Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio build lasting legacies and helped to shape responses to community needs through philanthropic leadership, commitment, and compassion. The Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH includes the assets of six component regional foundations Shenango Valley, Northern Mercer County, Lawrence County,Trumbull County ,Grove City , and Northern Trumbull County.
Our HistoryThe Shenango Valley Foundation was established in 1981 with an initial contribution from the O’Brien Children Memorial Fund. Initially, it was a supporting organization of the Pittsburgh Foundation. The new Community Foundation was created to meet the needs of individuals and charitable agencies within our region.
Our MissionOur Community Foundation is a public, non-profit charitable organization designed to attract and invest permanent endowment resources, with the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for the residents of western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, in accordance with the charitable intentions of its donors who wish to leave a legacy.
Values & EthicsThe Community Foundation seeks greater accountability, transparency and good governance as part of the need for effective self-regulation within the nonprofit sector.
